Vintage B & B 8" Brass Combination Rule Drafting Instrmt Advertisement Ben Hur

Description

Vintage B & B 8" brass combination folding rule, paper cutting tool, and a drafting & measurement instrument. Patent shows patent applied for in 1924. This one was used as an advertisement prop for BEN HUR - Crawfordsville IND - Legal Reserve Life Insurance, as stamped on one side. The opposite is B & B - PAT1690832 St Paul MINN USA. Symmetrical halves with a friction hinge utilizing a spring washer and a stop to allow the two legs to form a 90 degree angle after being rotated 270 degrees. Staggered perforations for using a pencil point for drafting purposes.
Known examples are made of brass. Markings observed around the hinge:
